Construction is all Billy Ames has ever done. Since age 13, he has worked in the industry – first for Ames Construction and, since 1995 when his father founded the new company, for Bemas. The third-generation construction worker earned his place, starting as an operator and laborer before being promoted up the ranks to general superintendent.
Working out of his pickup, which always carries three shovels in the bed, Billy organizes people and equipment for various jobs, ensuring that progress is on track. Since Bemas moved beyond the Denver metro area to take out-of-state jobs, Billy faces a logistics challenge to locate housing and additional workers as needed.
Married with three children, Billy enjoys fishing, but says he never gets to go because his family’s acreage “consumes every moment.”
