Overview

The Riverton Airport project was a great opportunity for Bemas to lead the way as the general contractor. The City of Riverton, WY selected Bemas for the reconstruction of Runway 10/28 and safety improvements for Runway 1/19. Bemas self-performed all excavation services for the project including subgrade prep and fine grading for the runway and taxiway. Additionally, we managed electrical, asphalt milling and paving, and aggregate crushing subcontractors.

Challenges

One unique, but challenging, feature of this project was the compaction requirements. With the site being an active airport, Bemas had to ensure all compaction levels met FAA code P209. As rigid as this code is, Bemas successfully met the P209 and additional FAA code requirements with the help of fine grading, milling, and paving robotic systems paired with our machinery.

The Final Result

Regardless of the rigid project guidelines, Bemas finished the project on time and met the FAA codes as required. Needless to say, the City of Riverton was more than happy with the results.
